The Quilt Connection Serves the World
|
Chicago, March 29, 2007 – To celebrate our new home at St John’s Episcopal Church, our increasing membership and the continuing strength and support we share as a group, Quilt Connection donated 27 handmade quilts to Project Linus. Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit organization with a mission to provide handmade blankets and afghans to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. One of Quilt Connection’s members asked others to make and donate blocks for this cause. She sewed these into quilts, quilted and bound them. Other members made labels, sewed them on, and generally helped out as needed. One member in particular, Della Humbert, made 10 additional quilts on her own! A volunteer coordinator from Project Linus, Judi Goldman, attended Quilt Connection’s meeting to receive the quilts and tell us about how they will be used She shared wonderful stories about how meaningful these quilts are to the recipients. |
